Lumina
A book reading application that creates a comfortable and reliable reading experience.

As someone who enjoys reading, I got intrigued by an idea to design an application that is meant for book lovers, including myself. Even though the idea started from my own experience, I made a conscious effort to step back and apply strong UX/UI principles. I focused on clarity, flow, and emotional tone to ensure the experience feels intuitive and meaningful - not just to me, but to any reader who uses it.

Questions I asked myself
These three questions shaped the entire design direction of the application.
Design System — Typography
The application uses Aeonik as its primary typeface, chosen for its clean geometry and readability across all screen sizes.
Design System — Color
A predominantly grayscale palette with selective blue and purple accents to highlight interactive elements and active states.

The grid system uses a 4px grid, a widely adopted standard that has proven to create visual consistency, balanced spacing, and scalable layouts across different screen sizes and components.

Build your own library
The core concept of this app is to allow users to create their own personal library. Whenever I think of a library, the image that always comes to mind is Bella from the Beauty and the Beast, gliding around the bookshelves on a ladder. On this page, you can sort and categorize books, then arrange them just like building your own shelves and library.

Switch — Reading Environment
The Switch feature goes beyond just enabling night and day modes. It lets users adjust brightness while previewing readability in real-time, so they can find their optimal visual setting without leaving the page.

Book Journal
When you finish reading, you can create your own book journal to capture your thoughts and feelings. A seamless interface guides you through recording meaningful insights and memories you can revisit later.

Reading Tracker
A Reading Tracker visualizes the progress you make in your reading habit. Different types of trackers encourage you to read more from every angle.
A bookstore that is just for you
The bookstore provides personalized information that helps with your book choices — daily recommendations based on your purchase history, and genre suggestions tailored to your preferences.
